Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects across various functional areas. Typically, employees in this function are working towards or have achieved certification in project management. Provides subject matter expertise in areas including project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, facilitation, and other areas of expertise based on established project management techniques. Makes presentations to management on project updates, project cycle, and expected results. Ensures projects are completed on time and in scope. Provides leadership to and is accountable for the successful execution of major implementation initiatives in CPM.
Examples of such initiatives include (1) lead implementation of Dual LTSS contracts (2) lead implementation of shared services organization, or (3) lead and coordinate the program management for health plan and state initiatives that include multiple Optum capabilities and product solutions.
This position is responsible for end-to-end program management of complex multi-year initiatives. This includes:Developing program roadmap, staffing plan, key milestones and timelines.Define and implement program execution and governance structure.Directing the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large scale programs.Overseeing and coaching project managers working on projects within the program.Leading cross-business team meetings that encourage creative solutions, collaboration and emphasize quality and efficient cost management.Building effective relationships with project team members, market and functional leaders.Facilitating development of program level planning that incorporates technology releases and business process changes. Leading and/or supporting the creation of CBA (cost benefit analysis) and working with Finance to monitor cost expenditures to program budget.Monitoring and reviewing high-level deliverables across projects. Implementing periodic progress reviews and quality assurance procedures to ensure profitable and successful execution of projects.Developing program success metrics and reporting on metric performance to program stakeholders.Managing scope and mitigating risk across projects.Engaging senior management in planning, resource approvals, scope changes, issue resolution and risk mitigation.Monitoring and communicating program status, issues, risks and mitigation plans.Developing and managing a program communication plan that includes all program stakeholdersTeam DevelopmentParticipates in all programs relating to performance evaluations and career development planning.
Reviews evaluations within practice for consistency. Mentors managers through formal channels. Assesses training needs and selects training tools for team members. Manages the development of project teams by ensuring that project tasks are in line with each team member's career interests. Internal OperationsEasily recognizes areas for internal improvement and develops plans for implementation. Lends expertise to internal teams and task forces. Reviews the status reports of team members across projects and addresses issues as appropriate. Complies with and enforces standard policies and procedures.
