The Opportunity:
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks several professional, innovative and detailed individuals for our Senior Relay Technicians located in our various offices in OH, MI, PA, NC and GA. If you are looking for an opportunity to oversee construction, commissioning and start-up of electrical power systems, and you have a minimum of 10 years experience providing technical service and/or engineering support in an industrial or utility environment, then this may be the position for you!
These positions can be located in our various offices in Charlotte, NC, King of Prussia, PA, Dearborn, MI , Columbus, OH or Atlanta, GA. If you enjoy the challenge of providing the best customer service to our utilities and industrial customers, utilizing your technical expertise in high voltage skills, enjoy mentoring associate technicians and travel throughout the US and internationally, then this position is for you!
Senior Relay Technicians (Various Locations)
Responsibilities:
Test, inspect, evaluate, and perform start-up of electrical power protective relaying and metering equipment for 600V through 500kV power systems.
Protection and controls troubleshooting.
Perform maintenance and acceptance testing of electrical power system equipment.
Perform installation and retrofitting of existing relay systems. This includes functional checkout of this equipment prior to energization.
Operate under general supervision and provides technical assistance to lower level technicians.
Write and/or conduct tests in support of department objectives.
Provide support to engineering staff and management as needed.
Follow and improve SEL related processes.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Two-year electronic technology associate degree
Over ten years experience providing technical service and/or engineering support in a manufacturing or engineering environment
Working knowledge of industrial and utility practices
Expertise with modern test equipment
Strong writing and speaking skills
Willing to travel up to 60% both nationally and internationally
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to write automated test plans for testing protective devices.
SEL representative overseeing construction, commissioning and start-up of electrical power systems.
