Job Description Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. is the world leader in the discovery, development and delivery of elite crop genetics.
Duties/Responsibilities We are currently seeking a Senior Research Associate at our offices in Johnston, Iowa to develop and deploy analysis methods for genetic evaluation, gene detection, and prediction of inbred line and hybrid trait performance by using advanced statistical and quantitative genetics approaches.
Educational Qualifications Desired This position requires a Master's degree or equivalent in Plant Breeding, Plant Genetics, Statistics or related field.
Competencies and Experience Desired This position requires a Master's degree or equivalent in Plant Breeding, Plant Genetics, Statistics or related field; and two (2) years of related genetics research experience, including two (2) years of experience with all of the following: 1) research in plant genetics, population and quantitative genetics, statistics and numerical methods; 2) computer programming, including use of C++, C#, MySQL/SQL, Perl, and database creation; 3) analysis of QTL mapping, application of molecular markers using quantitative genetics methods; 4) demonstrated ability in the theory and use of mixed models applying maximum likelihood or Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo methodology for gene detection and genetic evaluation.
