Hiring Manager Title Senior Research Manager
Job Description Contribute to the design, execution and interpretation of experiments integral to the White 108-118 RM breeding program. Effectively conduct experiments for departmental breeding and testing efforts; recording, analyzing and reporting data. Support as needed new transgenic gene evaluation efforts.
Duties/Responsibilities Leads the technical support team for a comprehensive white corn inbred development program; coordinates with station staff to assure effective use of Research Center resources and personnel.
Designs, executes, and interprets results of experiments in consultation with Senior Research Scientist. This will include breeding nurseries, early generation yield testing, and molecular data analysis.
Maintains or improves efficient daily work place operations, including field, laboratory, inbred maintenance and seed storage activities; will emphasize efficient incorporation of doubled haploid and molecular breeding technologies.
Supervises and is accountable for assigned projects and coordinates experiments with other locations.
Organizes and supervises work of support personnel as needed.
May recruit, hire, orient, supervise, and evaluate temporary employee performance, including interns.
May serve on teams appropriate to specific research projects.
Serves as member of York Research Center management team.
Serves on Safety, ISO9000, and Data Quality committees.
Educational Qualifications Desired Bachelors degree in an agriculture or scientific related field and minimum of 2 to 4 years of industry related experience is required, or equivalent amounts of relevant education and experience.
Masters degree in an agriculture or scientific related field and 0 to 2 years of industry related experience is preferred.
Competencies and Experience Desired Candidate must be familiar with computers and statistical analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
May be required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License and Pesticide Applicator's License.
