Description
Working as a Senior Technical Architect you will be responsible for providing eBusiness consulting services to AT&T customers. This includes developing IT solutions to business problems built on AT&T's custom J2EE methodologies, migration or upgrades of customer applications to AT&T certified product offerings, providing leadership and direction to complex eBusiness/eCommerce customers.
Having demonstrated expertise and unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires deep knowledge and an evaluation of intangibles. Performs complex and innovative systems architecture, systems/technology research, modeling, consulting and project management activities leveraging new/emerging/future services, technologies and platforms. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. May supervise the activities of others. To be successful, you must be proficient at the techniques that go into the formulation of the architectures, including:
requirements discovery and analysis
application of abstraction
formulation of solution context
solution alternatives identification and assessment
technology selection
architectural configuration
Expert in J2EE development methodologies
Knowlege of java coding techniques
Strong initiative and communication skills, as well as the ability to build strong relationships are keys to success; you must know how to mediate opposing viewpoints and negotiate equitable solutions to ensure successful and stable outcomes. You will use your practical skills and experience across many application and infrastructure (operational) products, technologies, and services. Individuals who have gathered requirements, designed, implemented and supported enterprise-caliber greenfield applicants, strongly preferred.
Additional Responsibilities:
Analyze a customer's business and IT challenges and design a comprehensive solution that integrates smoothly into the customer's environment
Responsible to carefully check for reliability, availability, and scalability
Proficient in the use of modeling techniques - such as use case, scenario modeling, prototyping, benchmarking, and performance modeling - to describe the problem space, to size the solution and to validate that the proposed architecture addresses the business requirements
Establish, implement, and enforce appropriate standards in the creation and implementation of the solution whenever project requirements call for or would benefit from the use of standards
Project management, change management, operations management and financial analysis are integral parts of most assignments
Lead architectural engagements in promoting the cause of technology, and of specific technologies, in order to achieve buy-in from the enterprise's management and IT communities, seeking to create new opportunities and business relationships
Required to maintain a baseline of IT industry knowledge to advise on technical trends and techniques and apply them to the development of solution design.
Modest travel, possibly 25% anticipated.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications -
5-8 years related technical architect experience.
Proficient in Network Management, Tools and Protocols (Configuration, IP Network Address Management, Performance Management).
Knowledge of data center infrastructure (including blade center design, data warehouse design, Ebusiness/web hosting design, etc.)
Proficient in data communications protocols (TCP/IP, v4/v6, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, GMPLS, etc.)
Proficient in home and premise networking architectures, assessment and modeling.
Proficient in specifying and evaluating architecture requirements for RFXs.
