In thisTemporary position you will be responsible for drawing blood on specialty populations such as neonates through adolescents and psychiatric patients. Obtains and prepares specimens for laboratory tests.

* Draws blood on specialty populations such as neonates through adolescents, psychiatric patients, etc. utilizing a variety of phlebotomy procedures, including fingersticks, venipuncture and heal sticks. Prepares wedge and reticulocyte smears.
* Centrifuges blood separating the cells from the plasma for further laboratory use.
* Obtains buccal smears.
* Obtains and prepares all culture specimens for further laboratory processing including sputum and stool specimens, throat cultures, etc. Logs and labels all specimens processed in the laboratory, tracking when necessary.
* Responsible for accuracy of laboratory and patient data on laboratory request forms received.
* Maintains laboratory supply levels.
* Adheres to quality assurance standards.
* Performs the duties of a Phlebotomy Technician.
* Performs clerical duties related to the operation of the department including recording of patient information as required.
* Prepares and packages blood samples to be sent out for further analysis.
* Performs related duties, as required.
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Minimum of one (1) year Phlebotomy Technician experience, required.
Ability to centrifuge blood and use venipuncture, required.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Good interpersonal skills, required.
