Sr. Unix Systems Administrator / Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION




* Manage and monitor systems to drive troubleshooting and tuning
* First and second tier resolution of production issues and alerts
* Understand all components of the site infrastructure in order to analyze impact of alarms and other system messages
* Work with external teams to diagnose complex problems and drive resolution
* Utilize industry standard and custom tools to diagnose and resolve production issues
* Resolve errors and alarms quickly and provide timely escalation
* Complete tasks required to maintain service levels and availability of all site features and functions
* Assist with Systems Engineering Tasks as needed Assist in creating automation and systems consistency to ensure efficient and reliable site operations




JOB REQUIREMENTS


Responsibilities:

* Configuration and management of UNIX systems and networking devices
* Monitoring service stability and end to end performance tuning
* Developing tools to aid in automation of alerting and deployment
Requirements:

* 7+ years of Unix or Linux system administration
* Experience with large scale distributed systems
* CPU, disk, memory and network utilization management
* Perl, python, ruby, bash, C or other scripting experience
* Understanding of LVM, SAN and RAID.
* Cacti, Nagios, or other monitoring and metrics tools.
* Knowledgeable of TCP/IP, VLANS, OSPF, IPSEC, BGP, Cisco, Juniper, F5, and Foundry
* Excellent communication skills
Key Strengths:

* Able to troubleshoot and resolve network, application, and systems issues expediently
* Be flexible to work rotating shifts in a 24 x 7 environment
* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
