System Engineer Tactical Communications
The Tactical Communications and Airfield Systems Engineer will interface directly to our USAF customer program management, technical, test and subject matter experts. Customer subject manager experts will be senior technical personnel in grade E-6 through E9 with 10 plus years of field experience on similar systems. This position is responsible for the setup, test and repair of deployable communications systems with emphasis on Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS); develops solutions to meet operational and test needs; applies knowledge of electronics to complete a variety of technical tasks; provides technical supervision; manages resources associated with assigned tasks; stays with installed products during commissioning; and makes adjustments to ensure proper working order. Also performs training to satisfy customer operational requirements.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
• Interface to customer Subject Matter Expert personnel.
• Performs systems engineering tasks to support technology discovery, concept development, improvement, and integration of communications systems,
• Performs task management (personnel, equipment, schedule, resources, quality) in support of assigned tasks,
• Analyzes requirements and propose solutions to support technical documentation and sustainment requirements,
• Supports the development, analysis, and implementation of training courseware,
• Provides training instruction to a highly skilled and motivated training audience
• Performs problem solving, individually, or as part of a team, to meet project needs,
• Supports installation, configuration, documentation and standardization of hardware and computer software in test environments to provide baseline standards,
• Develops and publishes setup, operations and maintenance instructions,
• Troubleshoots anomalies to uncover related hardware and software defects,
• Supports formal and informal testing and quality assurance activities.
Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in technical field and a minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering/technical classification. ATCALS or similar DoD tactical communication systems/network experience may be substituted for a degree,
• Military or FAA experience maintaining ATCALS, communications/networking equipment,
• Experience developing/writing and analyzing capability requirements documents,
• Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities along
• Able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: • ATCALS/airField/Tactical communications experience with the USAF preferred,
or FAA or similar
• 8 or more years of military or FAA maintenance experience,
• Instructor and training development experience,
• Experience with deployable communications systems.
