The Web Content Specialist creates compelling content to help online users address life issues and develops ideas to ensure GuidanceResources Online remains a best-in-class product. The Web Content Specialist is an individual that has diverse knowledge, meets deadlines, and works well on a team. The Web Content Specialist not only must have flair for writing, but an understanding of what works on the Internet.
• Develops concise, informative, and compelling copy according to content strategy, schedules, and guidelines
o Creates, updates, and proofs website copy per agreed upon schedules to ensure copy is timely and up to date
o Authors and sends e-mail newsletters monthly to promote new or useful website resources
o Works with stakeholders to review and approve new or updated website copy
o Enters content and associated metadata into the content administration system
o Sets and follows guidelines for voice, style, accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
• Develops ideas, plans, and relationships for new content; takes an abstract concept and brings structure to it.
o Develops new content ideas by analyzing user behavior, user feedback, business trends, and online trends
o Develops and executes an operational plan to acquire new content.
o Secures vendor relationships with content providers, translation services, or retail partners
o Makes recommendations to improve productivity and increase efficiencies
• Contributes as part of a high performing, technical team
o Actively helps and collaborates with peers. Makes efforts to proactively resolve conflicts
o Works well with other authors and technologists
o Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent assignments
o Performs testing of new websites or new website features, as needed
o Takes initiative to self-manage; does not always rely on management direction/supervision

• Bachelor of Arts (BA) in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field
• 2+ years of professional experience
• Understanding and/or experience with XML preferred
• Strong people and organizational skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
• Creativity and initiative
• Stable work history required
