Wide Area Network Engineering Architect
The Wide Area Network Engineering Architect is responsible for the development and maintenance WAN and MAN architectures, the deployment of the related services, and to provide technical support as required in support of those services. They are primarily responsible for the network addressing schemes, the allocation subnets, AS numbers, and the routing policy schemes within Chrysler's network. The candidate must be able to coordinate activities with internal and external business partners to gather business and technical requirements. Based on these requirements, the candidate will be required to coordinate with other network planning and implementation teams to define and launch solutions which meet business needs securely and efficiently. In addition, the candidate will be required to identify areas of improvement in current processes and procedures within the network organization and develop new strategies to improve efficiency within the team and across all teams.
Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 5 years of Information Technology experience
• Minimum of 3 years experience in planning, implementing and supporting the following WAN/MAN MPLS, EPL, DWDM, SONET and Internet services
• Minimum of 3 years experience in IP address and AS number schemes and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
• Project Management experience
Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field of study
• Familiar with LAN and Datacenter technologies
• Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical resources regarding network and related topics
• Ability to create complex end-to-end network designs to meet business needs
• Knowledge of research, design, planning and development of new advanced network technologies, network components as well as wireless transmission techniques
• Experience using general office applications in order to perform work assignments
• Cisco certifications are a plus
• Experience with legacy technologies such as Frame Relay and private line services would be helpful
• Experience implementing LAN / WAN / VOIP converged networks
• Familiarity with Wireless, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Server Technologies
• Experience in a manufacturing environment would be helpful
• Ability to identify risks and establish priorities in a changing environment
