OBJECTIVE: Seeking employment with an established, professional organization with advancement opportunities.
EXPERIENCE: I’ve served over ••••• years in various capacities for the Alaska Department of Public Safety (DPS). I began working with the Fish & Wildlife Division in ••••• and served as a field officer and progressed through the ranks until I retired in ••••• as a regional commander. I feel I served with distinction, earning numerous commendations, promotions, and awards, including being selected as the statewide officer of the year in •••••
After working for three years in the private sector, I returned to DPS in ••••• as a background investigator to screen potential Trooper candidates. After several years in that capacity, I transferred to the Wildlife Division to serve as their Vessel Supervisor, overseeing a fleet of patrol vessels, resigning in •••••
In the three years between DPS roles, I worked for Alaska, and then Delta Airlines as a Customer Service Agent, both in the air cargo section and as a passenger ticket agent. The airline sought voluntary furloughs after the ••••• disaster, and I accepted one that included five years of additional benefits. In the summer of •••••, I Skippered a Charter Boat in Prince William Sound, giving glacier tours and delivering campers and kayakers to remote locations, picking them up a week or so later. I also moonlighted for two years as a private investigator.
TRAINING: As a law enforcement officer for •••••+ years, training was constant and encouraged. I graduated with honors from the Trooper Academy, received mid-level and executive management instruction, and was provided supervisory, team building, hiring, background investigations, and performance evaluation schooling.
As a licensed vessel operator and fleet manager, I attended many classes in shipyard management, navigation, piloting, and safety instruction. Specific courses were also taken in office skills, Scuba, EMT, fire-fighting, firearms, and photography. The airlines provided me with three weeks of intense training specific to that industry. I also earned about three years worth of general college credits at Lewis & Clark College, and the University of Alaska.
