Adams Business Media

In brief, ••••• is one of the finest employees Ive had in Adams Business Media. As a short history of my working with her, she was the sole editor of GEOAsia Pacific Magazine. That magazine was shut down at the end of ••••• because of lack of sales, something ••••• had no control over. Because she is such a talent, I kept her employed as a free-lance editor for my group until the opportunity arose in another of my groups as the editor of Fun and Amusement Resources. And unfortunately, we had to shut down the Recreation group last month (these are difficult financial times for publishing in the U.S.).

Work experience, competence in performance of duties, and professional standards—Shes had over 8 years experience in editing and writing. She is used to meeting deadlines, researching articles, working with a number of different people from staff to outside contributors and juggling several projects at once. Because she was a telecommuter (working from her home, rather than in our Singapore or Chicago offices) it was imperative that her work be correct the first time out. Her professional standards are high—she takes personal pride in the final product and does everything in her power to ensure a high-quality magazine. One of the best qualities ••••• has that makes her suitable for a writing or editing position is her tenaciousness. She simply does not give up. When I named her editor of Fun and Amusement Resources, she had several stories she had to write and they were way out of her field of expertise. With minimal supervision, or even help, she contacted industry insiders and got enough information to write relevant articles for her first issue of the magazine. We could not have put out that issue if she had not been at the helm. She also has a "focus" that is crucial to the success of any writer. She doesnt waste time and simply gets down to the business at hand of writing the story or producing the magazine.

Some other things about •••••: Shes honest; she takes criticism well (and very seriously); she has a great sense of humor. People enjoy working with her and are very unhappy with the fact that she is gone. I would hire ••••• back in a heartbeat if I had a position open for her. Anyone would be very lucky to have her on their staff, or be able to utilize her talents as a consultant.

Regards,

Ms Jo Treadwell

To Whom It May Concern

••••• ••••• has worked for South Pacific Science Press as a freelance editor and writer for two years. She has a long track record in the geo-spatial industry and that has been particularly valuable to us. During that time, we have found her committed, courteous and professional in her dealings with staff in this organisation and our clients. Her written material is of a consistently high standard. She has shown great respect for our deadlines. She has shown particular aptitude for sympathetically editing material from non-English speaking authors. I have no hesitation in recommending her.

Yours Sincerely

Reference Letter from Professor Craig Colten, Louisiana State University
To Whom it May Concern:

••••• ••••• has asked me to write a letter of recommendation on her behalf and it gives me great pleasure to comply with her request.

Ms. ••••• prepared an index for my forthcoming book on New Orleans. She undertook the task on relatively short notice, found a way to mesh it into her schedule and completed the task in a short period of time. All in all, she managed the job with apparent ease and efficiency.

In terms of the quality of the job, I am thoroughly satisfied. Although unfamiliar with the book subject, she quite effectively created an index that captured the principal terms and themes. The work index itself was clean and error free. In addition to the index itself, Ms. ••••• caught a number of errors in the text and saved us some embarrassment.

I was fully satisfied with the index and have recommended her to others since she completed the job for me. If I had another book coming out soon, I would certainly ask for her assistance again.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you.
