RESUME

Objective:
Seeking a teaching, postdoctoral, or entry level Ph.D. position in organic chemistry and work in a challenging environment where knowledge acquired in synthetic organic chemistry and polymer chemistry could be gainfully put to use. Work with available research teams in tackling human and technological problems. Uphold integrity and standard of any institution or company I work for. Work positively toward realizing the goals of such institution or company.

Skills:
Good knowledge of synthetic methods and good analytical skills (NMR-experimentation techniques, IR, Mass Spectroscopy).
Skillful at separation and purification techniques (flash column chromatography, TLC, GC, LC-MS and HPLC, crystallization). Good at conducting polymerization reactions and interpreting polymerization kinetics.
Analysis of crude oil for water content, flash point, pour point, kinematic viscosity, specific gravity, etc.

Research Summary
Syntheses of chiral amines, aminoalcohol and aminodiol ligands and investigation of their roles as catalysts in asymmetric transformations, e.g. enantioselective addition of diethyl zinc to aldehydes; enantioselective Diels-Alder reactions; enantioselective Cross-Aldol reactions; enantioselective alkynylation of aldehydes and enantioselective borane reduction of aldehydes and ketones. Synthesis of these chiral amines, chiral amino alcohols and diols was achieved using such procedures as:
Oxidation reactions,
Catalytic hydrogenation reactions (using Parr Hydrogenators),
Protection and deprotection reactions,
Hydride reductions, e.g.: NaBH4, LiAlH4, N(CH3)4BH4, Selectride, MPV, BH3S(CH3)•••••
Resolution of enantiomers/diastereomers using chiral resolving agents, e.g: CSA, tartaric acid,
Low-temperature reactions (especially reactions involving use of air-sensitive and water-sensitive organo-metallic reagents)

Structures of some of the ligands synthesized in the course of my work are given below

Currently, in conjunction with my primary responsibility as a full-time lecturer at university of Massachusetts Dartmouth, I am collaborating with Dr. Rasapalli in the area of total syntheses of some marine natural products. Presently we are working on the total synthesis of Ageladine A and Scytonemin. Libraries of this natural product will also be synthesized for the study of its SAR.
