SENIOR DESIGN PROJECT AND LABORATORY EXPERIENCE
Senior Design Project: Mini Hydro Plant
The purpose of this project was to generate energy to offset the cost of running well pumps with the possibility to expand the systems to power other users. The project was broken up into three groups. They consisted of civil and mechanical, cost analysis and the generator group, of which I was part. We presented Sheep Creek Water Company with different phases that can be taken to attain maximum energy.
Electromechanics I&II Laboratory:
In-depth treatment of magnetics, transformers and rotating machinery, operation and applications of AC/DC machines. Dynamic response and control schemes including various types of DC controllers. Characteristics of thyristor, rectifier circuits, inverters, boost step up and boost step down converters, step down buck DC-DC power supply and step down regulators.
Electronic Design and Analysis/P-Spice/MatLab:
Applied Ohms Law and Kirchoffs Law using the curve tracer and the oscilloscope to determine a transistors particular beta. Determined root locus simulation graphs given any particular transfer function. Applied AC/DC analysis to capacitors, resistors, inductors and transistors in a circuit.
Computer Engineering Laboratory:
Designing and programming with algorithmic state machines while using the Motorola microcontroller: •••••HC•••••
