RESUME
EXPERIENCE•••••I have been working in the food service industry since I was ••••• years old. I am very comfortable working in any area of the restaurant, and I understand how to perform all of the necessary functions in running a business of this type. In my time working in this field I have held a job performing all the major positions in a restaurant and have met with great success in performing my duties. I enjoy learning new things and being able to adapt my skills to other environments. In January of ••••• I renewed my safety certification and am registered with the department of agriculture through ••••••••••OBJECTIVE•••••Currently I am in the process of closing a restaurant / catering business that I have been running since March •••••, ••••• I am looking to get a good job with good people that allows me to utilize my skills and ability. I am looking forward to learning new ways of going about tasks in the field and learning to adapt my talents to them.•••••EMPLOYMENT•••••JOB TITLE: LINE COOK YEARS EMPLOYED (EX: ••••• - •••••)
Organization Name: Carmodys Lounge Franklin Park, PA
This is where I first learned how to really work in a restaurant. I began as a fryer cook and worked my way up to working all the different stations on the line. Here I learned to organize between the regular restaurant work and banquets on a routine basis. Over my time here I learned the proper techniques of cooking and the safety factors that accompany it.•••••JOB TITLE: SHIFT SUPERVISOR YEARS EMPLOYED (EX: ••••• - •••••)
Organization Name: Taylor Coles Zelienople, PA•••••Here is where I first became accustomed to working a fine dining theme. I also was able to learn management skills and responsibilities. I was in charge of many aspects of the restaurant from running the line to communication with front of the house staff to make sure everyone was working together. This was my first real experience at learning just how the business was run and not focusing solely on the cooking aspect of it. •••••JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT KITCHEN MANAGER YEARS EMPLOYED (EX: ••••• - •••••)
Dingbats Cranberry Twp., PA
I began this job just looking to cook for some extra money, but when Taylor Coles closed I picked up more hours and quickly rose to the position of assistant kitchen manager. This opportunity allowed me to gain more experience in working the business aspect of the restaurant. This position also gave me another opportunity to develop my skills in working with other employees and how to use myself as a model for the work I wanted them to perform. It also gave me a greater opportunity in learning when discipline and a harsher hand are needed to bring about the desired work for the betterment of the establishment.•••••JOB TITLE: SERVER (SHIFT SUPERVISOR) YEARS EMPLOYED (EX: ••••• - •••••)
Organization Name: Jergels Bar and Grill Pittsburgh, PA•••••I took this job because I wanted to try my hand at the serving aspect of the restaurant industry. I quickly learned that it wasnt as easy as I had originally thought. I did enjoy, however, working with the customers and being a part of the experience they had while at the establishment. I quickly learned the trade and became the supervisor on the floor for my shifts. While at this establishment I also became the fill-in bartender and for a short time I was the sous chef until a replacement was found. I basically took this job to get a break from cooking, but I also realized how much I missed it. Ultimately, this job gave me the opportunity to broaden my horizons and fully understand all aspects of the business. I even kept the job for Monday and Tuesday evenings when I opened my own business because I had the opportunity to do so. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience.•••••JOB TITLE: OWNER / PRESIDENT YEARS EMPLOYED (EX: ••••• - PRESENT)
Good Eats Catering Cranberry Twp., PA
Here I did it all. I was responsible for everything that goes along with running a restaurant / catering business. I ran my business out of the Cranberry Elks lodge where I did a full service restaurant, with a large menu, for their members on Thursday through Saturday nights and eventually I started a Sunday brunch that was open to the public. I also did catering anywhere. This business allowed me to gain a full understanding of this business and the joys and headaches that go along with it. It is an experience that I regret seeing fail, but while doing it I put forth my greatest efforts and abilities in my attempt to make it work and prosper. Ultimately I was just underfunded in my attempt. In moving on from this I have gained a greater sympathy for small business owners in seeing just how important good employees are in the success of a business. This understanding is something I will take with me forever and increase any effort I take in taking on a new position.•••••EDUCATION•••••HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA YEARS ATTENDED (EX: ••••• - •••••)
North Allegheny High School•••••Wexford, PA
I attended North Allegheny for my entire undergraduate schooling. I developed a great interest in English and began working on writing stories. I had a couple of my stories published. When I was seventeen one of my stories was spotted by a producer for the Star Trek franchise. After submitting a spec script for their approval I was hired as a writing consultant for them. I performed these tasks mainly through e-mails and conference calls in addition to my schooling and the above jobs. I worked for the franchise for eight years, doing four with Star Trek Voyager and four with Star Trek Enterprise. I lost the job in ••••• when Enterprise was canceled.•••••BACHELORS DEGREE YEARS ATTENDED (EX: ••••• - •••••)
Saint Vincent College Latrobe, PA•••••Here I furthered my interest in writing by majoring in English and minoring in education. I received a graduation grade point average if •••••, and I did this while graduating in four years, which is rare for students today. While in college I balanced my studies with my above working experiences, while putting my greatest efforts forth to excel in all areas. I feel that these years allowed me to discover my potential and showed me that I was able to excel at things even if they didnt capture me full interest. Ultimately, I chose not to pursue the education route because I learned that it just wasnt something that I wanted to do for the rest of my life.•••••SKILLS••••• Leadership and making my work a model for how I would want others to work for me.
