PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
HAAS LASER TECHNOLOGIES, INC., Flanders, NJ ••••• - Present
Project Director
Direct projects, coordinating the efforts of engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and assembly to meet stringent deadlines. Initiate creation of assembly procedures, inspection reports, repair logs, user manuals, on-line catalog, and inventory databases, resulting in improved product quality and customer support. Apply working knowledge of physics and engineering principles with applied manufacturing experience to support engineers in the design of laser delivery components and optical systems. Assemble and inspect prototype electromechanical components and systems; test for functionality, performance and cost effectiveness utilizing understanding of manufacturing tolerances, working parameters, test procedures and job costing.
Successfully reengineered a camera assembly with a major design flaw: did not correct for the difference between visible and laser focused planes, and had magnification, resolution and limited versatility problems. Researched and applied the proper optics principles and added a collimator, resolving all issues and producing a marketable product.
Created a database to identify unique properties of products, especially similar optics with differing coating characteristics: structured the database to identify individual properties. Improved inventory management, purchasing, and customer satisfaction, and standardized assemblies. Process allows company to be a "reliable one vendor source" for optics.
Reduced costly warranty repairs through creation of new assembly and test procedures that included serializing components and marking screws with an anti-tampering lacquer. Prevented contracted builder in England from swapping out components and damaging them.
Successfully corrected the high failure rate of capacitive height sensing nozzles. Designed, built and tested prototype for replacement part, fine tuning and re-testing until ready for manufacture. Eliminated costly returns and improved customer confidence in product and company.
