Detention Officer
Lewis County Juvenile Court, Maximum Security Unit (March ••••• current)
Currently employed by the Lewis County Juvenile Court Maximum Security Unit. Responsible for maintaining Safety and Security of all Detainees housed in the Unit. Responsible for enforcing Standard Operating Procedures relatives to Juvenile setting. Responsible for enforcing Rules and Regulations. Responsible for conducting Incident Investigations and enforcing the Disciplinary Action Program. Trained to respond to highly stressful, hostile, and dangerous situations, quickly addressing the situation, and taking action to reduce the danger and hostility. Specific situations include but are not limited to fire suppression, bomb threats, hazardous chemical spills, power outages, and detainees disturbances. Trained in Subduing detainees engaged in physical altercations, controlling uncooperative individuals both orally and, when necessary, through physical restraint. Have the ability and willingness to perform work under adverse and, at times, dangerous conditions, in unpleasant environments, during day and night hours, and for extended periods of time. Responsible for transporting and escorting detainees according to policies and protocols. Trained on Restraints Techniques/Cuffing/Chain/Shackling in Juvenile setting. Responsible for conducting Security Checks and enforcing Record Keeping process. Responsible for maintaining accurate reports and ensure the confidentiality of all records for courts and are sometimes used as evidence or reference material. Trained to observe the legal and ethical guidelines of confidentiality set forth by the Superior Court. Responsible for processing Intakes, screening, pat-down, strip search according to court orders, reasonable suspicious and probable cause.
