A senior engineering position in the field of software design and development.
SUMMARY:
An experienced software design engineer able to carry a project from concept through the design process, including code, debug, test, and ultimately to customer shipment. Skilled in SONET/SDH and PDH telecom technologies, with backgrounds in GUI, system level software, middleware, and embedded software development.
COMPUTER OS:
Windows •••••/NT/9x/CE, Precise MQX RTOS, UNIX, MSDOS.
SKILLS Language:
C, C•••••, and Assembly coding.
Tools:
Visual C/C•••••, Win••••• API, MFC, SDK, Windows CE, Intertools, Tasking Development Tools (Vision Click), SDS CrossCode Tools.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:•••••
Agilent Technologies Inc./Hewlett Packard/Cerjac Inc., Andover, MA.
(Cerjac Inc. was acquired by Hewlett Packard in •••••)
Senior Software Design Engineer ••••• •••••
Product Description: N•••••A - Tablet Service Advisor and personality modules:
The Tablet Service Advisor platform is an open handheld system in which multiple personality modules can be inserted in order to perform various telecommunication tests and measurements. The platforms CPU is the Hitachi SH3 ••••• RISC processor and operates under Microsoft Windows CE. The software development environment is Windows NT, Microsoft Visual C•••••, Microsoft Windows CE SDK Tool Kit, Microsoft Windows CE Platform Builder, Multi-threaded, Win••••• API, and MFC. Each personality module consists of a unique Motorola ••••• microprocessor, with Precise RTOS to allow real time measurements.
Project Accomplishments:
Developed Windows CE software (GUI, MCL, and run-time embedded systems) for multiple personality modules. These included SONET/SDH OC••••• & OC••••• rates, TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement System), and TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer) modules.
Responsible for embedded application device drivers for each module based on Motorolas ••••• microprocessor using an MQX RTOS and Intertools compiler/linker. These drivers incorporated specialized application chip set programming for configuring and gathering primitive HW readings to be processed into valid measurements, implemented in C.
Created Measurement Control Layers (MCL) to process measurement results passed up from the embedded device drivers and architecting these results into object-oriented methodologies, implemented in C•••••.
Designed, and implemented system management software with interface protocols for inter-processor communication between the platform MCL and embedded device driver through a dual port memory architecture.
Defined test plans, developed automated test scripts, and performed system regression tests.
Adhered to all project schedules delivering key features on time, resulting in client satisfaction and ultimately in significant profits for Agilent and its client companies.
Product Description: E•••••A Cerjac •••••MTS SONET Test Set:
The •••••MTS SONET Test Set is a portable unit used to test and monitor SONET and T-Carrier telecommunication systems. The unit contains a front panel, LCD screen and a MC••••• processor and performs real-time telecommunications monitoring, loopback testing and performance monitoring.
Project Accomplishments:
Designed user interfaces with rotating menu displays for both configuration and results statistical data.
Developed embedded applications and device drivers for the Cerjac •••••MTS Telecom Tester utilizing SDS Cross Compiler and ROM Monitor. The telecommunication test and measurement applications included SONET/SDH OC•••••, OC3, STS1 rates, PDH rates, and ATM features.
Developed embedded software for multiple board sets (options) within the MTS for testing OC•••••, OC3, STS1, DS3, DS1 and VT signals.
Developed and carried out regression and alpha testing prior to product release.
Project manager and technical group leader for the software development team.
Itek Graphix Corporation, Publishing Software Division, Nashua, NH.
Senior Software Design Engineer ••••• •••••
Product Description: Software development for a design intensive typography workstation used to streamline the publishing process and provide camera-ready documents through an easy-to-understand user interface. It utilized SUN workstation(s) and the UNIX operating system to produce sophisticated composition, ruling, tabular, drawing, colors, and graphic functions.
Project Accomplishments:
Developed new features for text composition system to control widow/orphan lines within the text stream, added special effect features for a drop/large first character in paragraphs.
Integrated the Proximity Linguistic system to handle spell checking and thesaurus functions.
Created new pop-up menus to control these features and implemented overall performance improvements to the system.
Compugraphic Corporation, Wilmington, MA.
Senior Software Engineer ••••• •••••
Product Description: Software design and development of composition subsystem for a SUN based color page makeup system targeted to automate the entire pre-press production process. This system provided the ability to combine the entry and editing of text, line art, and pictures with layout and stripping operations for the flyer and insert markets.
Project Accomplishments:
Designed and developed text composition algorithms to allow the user to compose text into various structure graphics within the page.
Project leader and individual contributor managing a small staff of programmers and programmer aids, providing technical supervision and scheduling of manpower for a variety of products. These projects involved enhancements, maintenance, and release of applications software packages to existing products. Products included CRT based phototypesetting systems, text composition systems, and laser image scanning systems.
Complete software design and implementation of a disk based file subsystem for a new integrated typesetting system (Editwriter •••••).
Responsible for total development of a field support software utility package designed to allow field personnel to perform system maintenance functions such as: debugging, setting breakpoints, patching and disk file I/O.
Designed and developed user interface for a new family of stand-alone phototypesetters.
