After graduating from Boston University Rich worked at Lockheed-Martin, Ernst and Young, and the Comcast Corporation before giving into his entrepreneurial spirit.
He was eager to take what he had learned from his experiences in the workforce and apply it to creating an organization that not only helped others but was one that Rich was proud to call his own.
For the past 13 years as Founder and CEO of Beyond.com, Inc. he and his team have developed and grown the company into a highly niche-specific career community that enables job seekers and employers to create targeted connections across thousands of top-tier industry and local web sites. Rich oversees the daily operations and growth of the company and every so often you'll find him getting back in touch with his roots, sitting beside his fellow developers deep in code.
He has been chosen as a finalist for Technology CEO of the Year three consecutive times (2007-2009) by the Eastern Technology Council's Enterprise Awards Program, and was also a finalist for Ernst & Young's 2008 Greater Philadelphia Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Consultant, Software Development
Utilized a combination of software and hardware systems to develop and deploy applications. Focused primarily on managing, designing, developing and deploying applications that meet business requirements based on business needs and project timelines. Applications include a variety of Internet, Telecommunications and Client/Server technologies with SQL Server as a backend database.
Ernst and Young, LLP
Senior Developer for a nation-wide SAP R/3 implementation. Responsible to both MIS and the customer supporting data conversion and sales and distribution. Responsible for configuration of SAP to meet customer needs as well as the policies and procedures for implementation. Responsible for conversion of customer master files, historical data and data retention requirements. Developed issue management system and other project management tools for client/server environment using PowerBuilder.
Database Design: Developed several database management tools for client/server environment using 4GL, ESQL and C programming languages. Participated in all phases of product life cycle from the relational analysis and data modeling to the training, maintenance and support of all tools. Redesigned RDBMS report generation and printing capabilities while integrating word processing capabilities.
User Interfaces: Designed and developed portable graphical user interfaces using X/Motif. Linked front end GUIs to both Oracle and Sybase databases. Analyzed performance, security and effectiveness of flat file storage in comparison to table spaces. Implemented flat file storage structures in lieu of database tables where suitable.
Audio/Video Conferencing: Designed and implemented video conferencing centers across the country for internal T-1 network. Handled government requirements and regulations. Documented system specifications and coordinated deployments.
